The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that WWE still wants to old “SummerSlam” in Europe soon, possibly within the next four years. As previously reported, the company has been discussing holding one of their “big four” Pay-Per-View events overseas for some time now, although they have yet to pull the trigger.

Fresh off of the company’s latest tour of Europe, Dave Meltzer claims WWE may hold “SummerSlam” across the pond before the year 2020. The annual event, which has been held in Los Angeles for the last six years, will be moving away from its West Coast home in 2015 when “SummerSlam” emanates from New Jersey’s IZOD Center on Aug. 23.

Meltzer writes,

“While I doubt this will happen with WrestleMania, there is at least talk of SummerSlam in Europe within the next four years. Still, WWE was in talks of having a PPV in the U.K. this year and in the end, it didn’t materialize, even with the network economy making the idea of having to have it at a certain time for creatures of habit far less important.

The funny thing is, had they done a B show in the U.K., just the pub[licity] of it being in the U.K. would have skyrocketed European buys to the point they’d more than make up for the loss of North American buys. I wouldn’t have risked it for a big three, but for any other show, it would have been a positive.”

Editor’s Note:
It would be interesting to see an event like “SummerSlam” broadcast from say the O2 Arena. Would be a rowdy crowd for sure. Perhaps they should just focus on getting the WWE Network in the UK before “SummerSlam” 2015 at least.
