John Cena Will Compete Against Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam

John Cena will compete against Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam. This match was confirmed on Monday Night Raw.

Brad Maddox, the new General Manager of Monday Night Raw, gave Cena the power to choose his own opponent. Cena then selected Bryan as the number one contender for the WWE Championship after saying that he deserves the shot more than anyone. He also gave the fans a voice in selecting Bryan, which the crowd then joined in with a chorus of “YES!”

Wrestling Rumors previously reported that backstage conversations about Bryan facing Cena for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam were happening, and now the match will indeed take place. WWE SummerSlam will take place on August 18th on PPV and multiple digital formats.
