After a few weeks of backstage attacks and malicious actions, Cody Rhodes vs Damien Sandow is confirmed for SummerSlam. WWE.com confirmed this match on their website following Monday’s episode of RAW.

The two former “best friends” and tag team partners have been at odds since July’s Money In The Bank PPV, when they both entered the World Heavyweight Title Contract Money in the Bank Ladder Match, and Sandow came out victorious. Just when Rhodes was about to retrieve the briefcase, Sandow threw him off of the ladder and grabbed the briefcase himself.

After the ladder match, Sandow tried to have Rhodes merely be the “protector of the case,” which Rhodes took as an insult and proceeded to distance himself from his former friend. He would then throw Sandow’s briefcase into the Gulf of Mexico. Since then, multiple attacks and confrontations have set up a face-off between the two men at the annual Pay-Per-View event of the Summer, which will take place on August 18th.
