This week’s episode of Smackdown was taped in San Jose, California. The show will air in the US on Friday, August 16th.

WWE Smackdown

– The Wyatt Family starts the show in the ring. Bray Wyatt talks about Kane and their upcoming match at SummerSlam. Kane interrupts via the Titantron, then in the ring. He fights off Rowan and Harper as long as he can until they beat him down. Wyatt hits his finisher on Kane then the Family poses over his body to end the segment.

(1) Christian def. Damien Sandow. Christian gets the win after a roll up before getting attacked by Alberto Del Rio. Christian finally counters the cross armbreaker and hits a Killswitch to look strong going into SummerSlam.

– Backstage segment with RVD, the Big Show, and Mark Henry as they gear up for their match with the Shield on the program.

(2) Layla/*Divas Champion* AJ Lee def. Kaitlyn/Natalya.

– Ryback interview backstage airs.

(3) Mark Henry/Rob Van Dam/Big Show def. The Shield. Show hits a knockout punch on Ambrose, which was followed by a Five-Star Frog Splash from RVD for the pin.

(4) The Miz def. Jack Swagger. Zeb Colter and Antonio Cesaro get ejected by the referee at ringside. Miz ends up winning via roll up.

(5) Curtis Axel def. Zack Ryder. Paul Heyman cuts a promo on CM Punk after the match.

(6) Daniel Bryan def. Wade Barrett in a No DQ Match. Bryan comes out to a huge pop (of course he does). Vince McMahon makes his way out midway through the match, which is said to have been a classic. The two used chairs, kendo sticks, and more to engage the crowd and give it an awesome No DQ feel.

The finish saw Bryan apply the Yes Lock to Barrett, but Vince pulls the referee out of the ring, hindering him from seeing Barrett tap. Bryan turns his attention to Vince, but then turns around into a Bullhammer. Vince calls for a referee and Brad Maddox runs to the ring in a referees’ shirt, attempts to make the count, but Bryan kicks out.

Bryan goes to pin Barrett soon after, but Maddox won’t make the count for him. Bryan begins to lose it and throws Barrett threw a table in the corner and Maddox goes down as well. Out comes Triple H in an official’s shirt. Bryan hits the flying headbutt on Barrett and we see Triple H count one, two, three.

– Randy Orton’s music hits to end the show. He comes out and stares at the ring, just toying with Bryan and Triple H.
