WWE Announces NXT Special Event; Backstage News With Details

Worlds colliding can be both a good and a bad thing. WWE has announced a new NXT special that will be taking place on the eve of the 2020 Royal Rumble. Known as “Worlds Collide,” the show will feature stars from NXT and NXT UK.

From WWE.com:

The WWE Network special, taking place at Houston’s Toyota Center on Jan. 25, 2020, will feature Superstars like NXT Champion Adam Cole, WWE United Kingdom Champion WALTER, NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray, The Undisputed ERA, Imperium and more.

According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the show will be built around brand vs. brand matches that have never been seen before. They will be experimenting with shows on Saturdays, to see how viewership is compared to WWE’s usual Sunday evening PPVs.

This is not the first time that the “Worlds Collide” concept has been used; back in January of this year, a tournament was held with this name, with Velveteen Dream coming out as the victor.

Editor’s Opinion:

This is a great concept and I’m glad we get to see it again this year. It will be hard to say where the concept goes from here since the NXT Umbrella is considered a legitimate 3rd brand. But for now, we will enjoy the competition as it is presented to us!
