It had been previously reported that Shelton Benjamin was cleared to compete and would be returning to the ring sometime in the near future.

However, his current working situation seems to have changed.

Benjamin posted the following tweet, indicating that he has not signed with WWE:

However, Benjamin will be competing this weekend at the “World War 360” Brii Combination Wrestling event in Elmhurst, NY, this coming Friday. It will be his first match since July of last year.

Speaking of last year, it had also been previously reported that the “Gold Standard” would be returning to “Smackdown Live.” WWE had even posted a video indicating that the return would be occurring:

Shelton Benjamin is coming home to SmackDown Live: SmackDown Live, July 26, 2016

Editor’s Note:

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Benjamin won’t be returning to the company in the future. It just means that it won’t be happening now. It would be amazing to see him back on “Smackdown Live;” his fantastic athletic ability, combined with his experience in the business, could be a huge benefit to all of the talent in the company.
