This Sunday at “No Mercy,” a Fatal 5-Way match for the “Raw” Women’s Championship will take place. It became such after Bayley made her return to the company on last week’s show, and was inserted into the match. She has been out of action for over a month, after she suffered an injury in a match against Nia Jax on ‘Raw.”

You can see footage of her return below:

Although her upbeat, vibrant personality is what won her over in NXT, she has been receiving a largely negative reaction from the crowd over the recent weeks. She is often booed during her promos and matches and the fans seem to be turning on her and her persona.

Many people have said that what she is doing, both in and outside of the ring, isn’t working on the main roster. So, what can be done about it?

In my opinion, the best thing that Bayley can do for her character going forward, is to turn heel and be a “bad girl” going into the fall season.

Now, before I present my case, I will play devil’s advocate and say why she SHOULDN’T turn heel.

The way that she connects with young fans is quite electric; there have been reports that she had been seen as the “female version” of John Cena, with her message and “hugger section” that shows up every week.

However, this was two years ago, and I don’t know if those reports are still accurate. In addition, there are other female superstars that can fill that role, such as Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.

So, why should she turn heel? Simple: it would be fresh, new, and allow her to continue to develop as a superstar.

There have been many examples in professional wrestling history where a wrestler, who was booked as a face, began to receive a negative reaction from the crowd, for whatever reason. The two biggest names that come to mind are Hulk Hogan and The Rock.

Things seemed to work out pretty well for those two superstars.

Bayley could do the exact same thing. Let her turn on Sasha Banks at some point, and the feud between them could be incredible. She can say that she was tired of being a goody-two shoes, and wanted to let the REAL Bayley come through.

Also, how ironic would it be if Bayley was playing the heel in her feud with “The Boss?”

I’m not sure when the heel turn should happen; it could be at “No Mercy,” or perhaps the night after on “Raw.” They could even delay it until after a potential feud with the Four Horsewomen of UFC at “Survivor Series.” However, a heel turn by Bayley could reinvigorate her character, as well as the entire women’s division on “Raw.”

And that would be best for business.
