It would appear that the glow has faded out.

Tonight at “SummerSlam” 2017, Natalya defeated Naomi to become the new “Smackdown Live” Women’s Champion. This will be her first run with the title.

The finish came when Naomi went for a split-legged moonsault, but Natalya was able to counter by putting her knees in the air. Natalya then applied the sharpshooter, which forced Naomi to tap out.

The “Queen of Harts” was last a WWE singles champion in 2010. She defeated Michelle McCool and Layla in a two-on-one handicap match at “Survivor Series” to become the Divas Champion. She would hold the title until 2011 “Royal Rumble,” where Eve pinned Layla in a Fatal 4-Way match to become the new champion.

Naomi had been the “Smackdown Live” Women’s Champion since WrestleMania 33, where she defeated Alexa Bliss to regain her title in her hometown of Orlando, Florida.

Editor’s Note:

I am so happy for Natalya. She has had an incredible career in WWE, but has rarely gotten the opportunity be at the top of the women’s division. She is a tireless worker, and deserves this moment. Congratulations to the “Queen of Harts;” this win is well-deserved!
