Another one for the history books. This past Sunday at NXT Deadline, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods captured the NXT tag team championships by defeating Pretty Deadly. While this was a great moment for The New Day, this championship victory was also historic in a number of ways.

As a result of their victory, Kingston broke the record for the most tag team championships in WWE history with 15. The previous record was held by Booker T, who had 14 championship reigns.

Furthermore, Kingston is the first WWE Champion to later win an NXT championship, and Woods is the first King of the Ring tournament winner to later capture an NXT title.

Editor’s Opinion:

I had no idea that this was the case, but this is awesome! There is no doubt that he is going to go down as a Hall of Famer when his career is over, as he is one of the most decorated superstars in history. Not only is he incredibly talented at what he does, but he is a wonderful ambassador for the company, and deserves all of the adulations that he has received. Congratulations to him on this wonderful achievement!
