WWE Superstar Big E recently say down with Vegas Seven, to promote the upcoming “Money In The Bank” pay-per-view this Sunday in Las Vegas. In the interview, he discusses a number of topics, including his Fatal-4 way matchup at the PPV, being a member of the New Day, potential future members of the group, and more.

Below are some highlights from the interview:

Tell me a little about the Fatal 4-Way match. What can fans expect to see there?

I think the cool thing for us is that we’re always looking for a test and challenge, and the Fatal 4-Way features three teams that weren’t even on the main roster as of last May, so the fact that we have three teams, all with some semblance of momentum (I think The Club has the most momentum right now) is pretty exciting. It’s a brand-new match, with three teams that have never faced each other before. It feels fresh to me, and I think the four-way tags are always very exciting.

What is one thing the audience doesn’t know about the New Day but they should?

I think that I like that people know as little as possible—you’ve got to keep some of the magic in what we do, even though it’s dwindling by the day [with the advent of online forums and subreddits, “backstage” news, spoilers and rumors spread with amazing speed and virulence]. It’s a good question; I’m trying to think of something they don’t know. I think that people understand we’re not just saying words on a page and that we have a lot of creative control.

The one thing that a lot of people don’t already know is that the original idea for the New Day, that they came out with in the vignette, was definitely not our idea, but we tried to make it work. [Indeed, rewatching the New Day’s first appearances is an exercise in early installment weirdness, with none of the crowd-popping hallmarks the group would later adopt]. But even before then, we were working on this idea for a while—even before you first saw us on TV together, we spent months shooting stuff on our own. I remember there were times when, let’s say, Kofi was in a match on Main Event and Woods had a match on Smackdown, and if we had an hour to spare, we would change into whatever we had for this promo and go into pre-tapes and shoot stuff on our own. We spent a lot of time on our off days writing stuff, and texting and emailing and talking to the writers. We really spent a lot of our own time trying to get this off the ground because we really believed in this trio.

That was a few years ago when we didn’t have a lot of equity. Kofi was a guy who had been around for a very long time. And I had done a few things in WWE; Woods not so much. But we all felt that we were three talented guys and we believed strongly in our chemistry. It was a lot of work on our end before you ever saw anything on TV with the three of us. Honestly, it makes it more rewarding, knowing how hard we had to work to get this off the ground.

If you could add one more member to New Day, who would it be?

We talked about this for quite some time, especially earlier, and we always saw New Day as a faction that would expand and be larger than three members. Now, though, it seems like such a perfect fit with us three. But if we had to, we’re all such big Sasha Banks fans—I think she would add a different dynamic, though she’s such a strong, beloved character that I don’t think she needs to be surrounded by anyone. But if we were forced to pick someone, it would be Sasha Banks.
