Kofimania might not be over quite yet. According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kofi Kingston still may play a very prominent role in this year’s WrestleMania.
The current rumor is that Daniel Bryan vs. Kofi Kingston will replace Bryan vs. Kevin Owens as the WWE title match on the grandest stage of them all.
This angle was set up on this week’s episode of Smackdown Live; you can see a clip of that below:
Owens is currently scheduled to take on Bryan upcoming at Fastlane.
The idea is that Vince is doing the same thing with Kofi that he did with Becky Lynch; take away from the fans what they want, so that they will become bigger faces and gather more interest from the fans leading up to WrestleMania.
The report claims that the only drawback to this is that the video vignettes that played regarding Owens’ return had him seem to be playing a face; his return storyline has him playing a heel of sorts, as he is taking away an opportunity from one of the top babyfaces on Smackdown Live right now.
If this ends up being true, I will be all about this. Kofi Kingston has been one of the hottest things in WWE as of late, and even though he received this opportunity because Mustafa Ali suffered an injury, the company needs to run with this and give him the moment that he rightfully deserves.
