That makes sense. One of the big stories coming out of Raw this week was the announcement that Cody Rhodes will be making his official return to WWE at the Royal Rumble. While some have thought that he should have been a surprise entrant, some insight has been given as to why this was not the case.

According to a tweet from WrestleVotes:

Asked a source the reasoning behind Cody’s Rumble return being announced as opposed to a surprise…

Source said it’s twofold, one being that nearly everyone expected it to happen already & two, source states they are “more than pleased” w/ the other surprises that are lined up.

Rhodes has been out of action since Hell in a Cell last year, after competing in a match against Seth Rollins with a torn pectoral muscle.

Editor’s Opinion:

Now that I think about this, it makes sense. With this being the first Royal Rumble completely in the hands of Triple H, this is one of the most anticipated wrestling events in a long time. Giving the fans at least one real reason to tune in, in addition to the many surprises that we may be seeing, will certainly help with views for the show, which is great for potential business avenues that could be in the company’s future.
