It has been previously reported that Cody Rhodes’ new wrestling promotion, All Elite Wrestling, will be holding a rally called “Double or Nothing” this coming Tuesday, January 8 at the TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville, Florida. This happens to be near the Jacksonville Memorial Arena, where Smackdown Live is happening that week.

But what is the reason for this?

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radiothis is strictly a coincidence and was not planned at all. The rally was to always be held in Jacksonville, because that is where AEW will be based, but the date just happened to line up with when WWE will be in town.

It should also be noted that TIAA Bank Field is where the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars play their home games and AEW’s main backer is Tony Khan, a co-owner of the team.

Editor’s Opinion:

Part of me wants to believe this, but another part of me knows what a good businessman Cody Rhodes is. Any opportunity that one has to stir up some controversy, especially when a new business venture is trying to get off of the ground is good for publicity, and people will be talking about this event even more as it approaches.
