WWE Writes King Barrett Off Television on “Monday Night Raw,” Changes Twitter Handle to Real Name

The Aug. 24 edition of “Monday Night Raw” may be the last time we see the 2015 King of the Ring winner for a while.

King Barrett and Stardust came up short at WWE “SummerSlam” on Sunday, falling to the superhero tandem of “The Man that Gravity Forgot” Neville and “Arrow” star Stephen Amell. “The Prince of Dark Matter” took the loss extra hard, as he was embroiled in a feud with the highly-acclaimed actor for several months leading up to the pay-per-view.

In a fit of rage, Stardust viciously attacked Barrett before a scheduled tag team bout Monday night.

Today, Barrett changed his Twitter handle to his real name (Stu Bennett) and posted the following tweet:

Barrett is currently on his way back to the United Kingdom to film WWE Studios’ upcoming action thriller, “Eliminators,” this September. It had been previously reported that WWE was considering dropping the “King” gimmick and reverting back to his “Bad News” character.

I’m afraid I’ve got some…good news. The “King” gimmick was not working, and it was not getting a good response from the crowd. Barrett was way more over when he would give bad news to the WWE Universe, and I would love to see that character return.
