According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE officials have great interest in Japanese wrestling star Kota Ibushi and are interested in bringing him in.

Ibushi currently works in New Japan Pro Wrestling and Dramatic Dream Team. He’s one-half of the DDT Tag Team Champions with Kenny Omega, as well as the current IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion.

WWE has made more of an effort to sign talent from the Japanese ranks as of late. They recently came to an agreement with Kenta, who will be making his debut with NXT tis summer.

For those who have never seen Ibushi perform, here’s a sequence from a match between him and El Generico (Sami Zayn) from Chikara Wrestling years ago.

Editor’s Note

This would be a terrific get for WWE, but there’s no word yet on Ibushi’s contract situation and whether or not he’d be able to come to the company right away. I’ve seen a lot of his matches on YouTube, so I’m familiar with his work. He’s a tremendous athlete and very exciting to watch between the ropes. Here’s hoping some sort of deal can be reached down the road. Fingers crossed.
