A rematch between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton is now scheduled to take place at WWE’s next pay-per-view Payback. However, this won’t be your typical match. No, it’ll be a “House of Horrors” match. We don’t know what this will be. Based on the weird nonsense that went down at WrestleMania 33 though, it’s probably going to go over like a lead balloon. Expectations are low for the House of Horrors match, but that may be partially because of the fact the name is reminiscent of the legendarily bad Chamber of Horrors match at Halloween Havoc in 1991.

Back then, the wrestling landscape was very different, and WCW was not yet a particularly big company. They were only just beginning their rise, which would kick into another gear when Monday Night Nitro began. In 1991, Halloween Havoc really tried to live up to its name, creating a “spooky” wrestling pay-per-view. The first match of the night was the Chamber of Horrors match. It was an eight-man match featuring guys like Sting, the Steiner Brothers, Cactus Jacks, and especially Abdullah the Butcher. Why single out Abdullah the Butcher? Because he was electrocuted in this match.

Hall of Fame: Abdullah the Butcher gets fried

Well, I should say he was “electrocuted.” You see, the purpose of the Chamber of Horrors match was to strap your opponent into an electric chair in the middle of the ring and then flip the switch, thereby electrocuting your opponent. This is, of course, an insane premise for a match, but it happened. The good guys won, and then celebrated a man being electrocuted, I guess?

Regardless of how the House of Horrors match turns out, it will likely never live up to the disaster that was the Chamber of Horrors match.
