The first swap of Superstar Swap happened before RAW even went on the air. Apollo Crews went from Smackdown to RAW, making him the first of presumably a handful of moves that will take place Monday. I like Crews in the ring. I even wrote about that. I also made the point that he needed direction, and particularly he needed to get better on the mike. He needed a schtick. He needed something to get him over. Well, there is a path potentially open to him based on his move to RAW that could actually give Crews some traction. Plus, he wouldn’t even need to develop more personality.

Mouthpiece managers are a rare breed in pro wrestling these days, especially in the WWE. Frankly, there is only one, and as he is wont to tell you his name is Paul Heyman. Heyman is, of course, the “advocate” of current Universal champ Brock Lesnar. That really means he talks so Lesnar only has to look mean and suplex people. It’s a dynamic that works, because Heyman is great on the mic.

Apollo Crews arrives on Raw as part of the Superstar Shake-up: Exclusive, April 10, 2017

Obviously, I’m suggesting that Heyman could become the advocate for Crews as well. Crews isn’t all that different than Lesnar. He doesn’t have Lesnar’s name, or his mixed-martial arts legitimacy, but he’s a big, athletic guy who could use somebody to help get him over. Heyman could certainly do that. Now, Heyman works from the position of a heel, which would mean Crews would have to turn. If that’s what it takes, that’s a no brainer. It’s not like Crews is over as a face. Since Lesnar isn’t likely to wrestle all that much, Heyman should be able to find the time to advocate for two wrestlers. Now, there is no sign that this will actually happen. It’s just an idea, but a good one. Otherwise, Crews could go the way of Jack Swagger.
