Many are aware of the major change in the WrestleMania XXX card regarding Daniel Bryan being inserted in the main event. Originally, Bryan was scheduled to compete against Sheamus in a non-title match. This would have been their third time competing against each other at WrestleMania, as the two competed against each other in a dark Lumberjack Match at WrestleMania XVII which ended up in a no contest, as well as for Bryan’s World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XVIII, which Sheamus won in 18 seconds.

However, Reddit picked up a recent CM Punk Instagram post that showed the original WrestleMania XXX card, which revealed yet another major storyline change.

Due to the organic build of Daniel Bryan as a result of the fan reaction, the main event of WrestleMania XXX was changed from Royal Rumble winner Batista competing against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton in a singles match, to Bryan being inserted in the match after defeating Triple H earlier on the card. As shown by this document, the original plan was for CM Punk to compete against Triple H, which was already rumored before he quit the company following the Royal Rumble.

The other major change involved The Shield. The actual card resulted in the trio of Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose defeating Kane and the New Age Outlaws. However, according to the original card, Reigns was supposed to compete against Ambrose for the United States Championship, which indicates that the Shield was supposed to split before WrestleMania.

This ended up happening on the June 2, 2014 episode of Raw, with Rollins being the one who turned heel and joined Triple H and The Authority, being the faction’s new leader.

Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar and John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt remained as planned. Lesnar was able to end Undertaker’s WrestleMania winning streak, making his record 21-1, and Cena defeated Wyatt at the pay-per-view. Instead of Big Show competing against Kane, he instead was a part of the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which he made it to the final two before being eliminated by Cesaro.
