Bobby Lashley was a top name in the WWE from 2005 to 2008. During this time, he would win the United States and ECW Championships, as well as be a top contender for John Cena’s WWE Championship and compete against him for it at the main event of the 2007 Great American Bash pay-per-view.
Perhaps the biggest moment of Lashley’s career was being a part of a marquee match at WrestleMania 23. During this time, Vince McMahon would be in a feud with Donald Trump, which was coined the “Battle of the Billionaires.” This rivalry would get so heated that each person would agree to get their head shaved if their representative did not win the match.
Trump chose Lashley and McMahon chose Umaga. Lashley ended up winning the match, which forced McMahon to get his head shaved.
After a successful tenure in Impact Wrestling following his departure from WWE, winning the World Championship on four different occasions, Lashley has left the company. According to the Wrestling Observer Radio, Lashley is free to compete in the WWE, and is most likely going to return.
Regarding Lashley being the open challenge for Bobby Roode or an entrant in the Royal Rumble, there is no confirmation on whether either will happen. However, Lashley reportedly could appear in WWE “any moment now,” and would very likely start a program with Brock Lesnar following WrestleMania 34.
