On Sunday, professional wrestling fans were saddened when they learned that WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka had passed away at the age of 73.

Just two weeks ago, involuntary manslaughter and third degree murder charges against Snuka were dropped because he was mentally unfit to withstand a trial due to dementia, and because he was also battling stomach cancer. So, the last couple of weeks, and months of his life were quite controversial, to say the least.

Even though he passed away during a time where the public perception of him wasn’t at an all-time high, he’s still one of the biggest names in the history of professional wrestling, and because of that, WWE couldn’t ignore his death. You can check out their official statement below.

“WWE is saddened to learn that WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka has passed away.

“Snuka is regarded by many as the pioneer of high-flying offense because of his Superfly Splash from the top turnbuckle. His dive off the top of the steel cage onto Don Muraco at Madison Square Garden as hundreds of flash bulbs went off will forever live as one of the most memorable moments in WWE history.

“WWE extends its condolences to Snuka’s family, friends and fans.”

You should probably expect to see a video tribute to him on Monday’s Raw, or, at the very least, an “in memory of” graphic at the top of the show.
