Update On Shawn Michaels Appearing At the Royal Rumble

As of right now, Shawn Michaels isn’t officially being advertised for the Royal Rumble, but everyone is expecting him to be there because it’s taking place in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. Also, WWE is trying to break an attendance record at the Alamodome, and HBK will certainly help them do that if he’s on the show.

There’s been some question as to what Michaels’ role will be at the Rumble — will he be a special guest referee? Will he just make a short backstage appearance? We don’t know yet, but according to Cageside Seats, the WWE Hall of Famers’ role will be quite significant.

Even though AJ Styles teased a match between himself and Michaels several months ago on Twitter, it appears that the Heartbreak Kid has no desire to get back in the ring. We’ll probably find out more about what his role will be on the show during his appearance on next week’s Raw.

WWE may end up having Shawn Michaels be the guest referee in either the John Cena vs. AJ Styles match, or the Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens match. Of course, fans would probably rather see him as the guest ref in the Cena vs. AJ match, just so they can see HBK in the ring with the Phenomenal One.
