There are apparently some major changes being made to the SmackDown creative team, as it’s being reported that the blue brand now has a new head writer.

On Monday’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that he’s been hearing that Brian James, better known as Road Dogg, has replaced Ryan Ward as the head writer of WWE’s Tuesday night show.

“The story going around is Brian James is now the head writer on SmackDown and Ryan Ward is no longer writing SmackDown. Brian James [has] definitely been picking up power, that much I know. He’s very tight with Triple H and he’ll probably end up with more power as time goes on. He’s still living in Florida, he’s not living in Connecticut, so I don’t know what that means.”

Road Dogg has been a producer with WWE for quite some time now, and as Meltzer noted, he’s really tight with Paul Levesque. So it’s not surprising to hear that he’s amassing more power backstage.

What do you think of this move? Do you think Road Dogg will do a good job as the head writer of SmackDown? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Facebook!
