Whenever new and old generations collide, it makes for a historical night.

It was announced tonight, after NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, that history will be made at the upcoming all-women’s pay-per-view, Evolution. In a historical generational clash, current Raw Women’s Champion, Alexa Bliss, will be taking on Hall of Famer Trish Stratus.

Bliss has been featured in a series of “SummerSlam Diary” videos over the weekend, chronicling her journey to the “biggest party of the summer.” She had an encounter with The Bella Twins earlier, which you can see below:

WWE.com had the following to say about the match with Stratus:

The Goddess, who is set to defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam, will battle the WWE Hall of Famer for the first time at the pay-per-view event set for Sunday, Oct. 28, at 7 ET/4 PT. Not only will this be Bliss and Stratus’ first match against each other, but it will also mark Stratus’ first match since competing in the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match earlier this year.

Editor’s Opinion:

The Goddess has been one of the top female superstars in the company for quite a while now and the fact that she gets to participate in a “passing of the torch” type of match, is a big deal. This performance could solidify Bliss as one of the major players in WWE for years to come, while reminding us why Stratus is one of the best of all time. I can’t wait!
